A personal browser home page that runs on your own PC
Homebase replaces the browser's New Tab page with a dashboard of search, bookmarks, calendar, mail, tasks and weather. It runs entirely on its owner's computer — there is no Homebase cloud service and no Homebase account.
What it does
- Search across several search engines from one box.
- Launch pad of bookmark groups with icons.
- Calendar — shows Google Calendar events and lets you create, edit and delete them, alongside other calendars you connect.
- Mail — shows the unread count and the most recent inbox messages (sender, subject, date and a short preview) from Gmail and other mailboxes, and lets you mark them read or unread, archive them, or move them to the trash.
- Tasks from Todoist, weather and a clock.
How it uses your Google account
Homebase connects to Google with OAuth, only after you sign in and approve access on Google's consent screen. It requests:
- your email address and basic profile, to label the connected account;
- your calendar list (read-only) and calendar events (read and write), to show and edit your calendar;
- Gmail modify access, to show your recent inbox messages and to mark read/unread, archive and trash. Homebase never sends mail and never permanently deletes mail.
Everything Homebase receives from Google stays on the PC where Homebase runs. It is not sent to any server operated by Homebase, shared with anyone, or used for advertising or AI training. Details are in the privacy policy.
Who can use it
Homebase is a personal project by davideAurum. It is self-hosted: each person who runs it uses their own copy on their own computer, with their own Google Cloud OAuth client. It is not offered as a hosted service.
